A Few Travel Suggestions
Just a reminder to all of our traveling friends. Get your passports! Even though the requirements have been extended for some travelers and it is not needed for travel to and from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, it is a good means of ID for you and your family. Remember babies are included in this, so you must have one for the little one traveling also. It is better to be safe than sorry. There are some islands that require it for entry regardless. Just as the requirement has changed to include air travelers at this time, it could change back to the original at anytime.
As of July 13, 1010, the cost of new passports go up from $100.00 to $110.00 and a $25.00 execution fee. The change applies to renewal fees as well.
If you don't know where to get the applications, check your post office, court house, contact me or click here or click in the logo in the right margin if you are in need of expedited services. Be sure to use the coupon code OP1 for your 10% discount with the latter.
Remember to avoid delays at customs: do not pack sharp items, gels, sprays, liquids (not even bottled water) in your carry-ons. They will be confiscated. Shoes must be removed. For faster check in. Check your luggage in at curbside. They will give you your boarding pass and you can go avoid the long lines.
Speaking of luggage. You may want to rethink your packing, as some airlines have begun to charge extra for checking in even 1 bag. American will be charging $15.00 for the 1st bag and $25.00 for the 2nd bag on all local flights, so if you plan to go shopping on your vacation, you may want to consider having it shipped back home. Either way you will pay for it.
Happy and safe traveling to you!
